Transit visa exemptions:

Holders of valid visas from: IRL visa, US visa, Canadian visa, Australian visa, New Zealand visa

Transit visa NOT required for airside transit if holding: (1) valid Irish biometric visa (marked 'BC' or 'BC BIVS'), OR (2) valid visa for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or USA (whether or not traveling to/from these countries), OR (3) used visa for these countries within last 6 months. Also exempt with ETA for airside transit (temporary exemption). For landside transit (passing through border control), Visitor in Transit visa required unless holding valid visa or residence permit for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or USA.

Indian passport holders normally need a UK transit visa. Airside TWOV requires arrival and departure by air, a same-day confirmed onward flight from the same airport, destination documents, and a qualifying visa or residence document. Landside TWOV requires an onward flight before 23:59 the following day plus a qualifying document and route. A UK border officer makes the final landside decision.
