Key Requirements

• Passport issued within 10 years, with 2 blank pages and at least 3 months of validity after your last planned departure from Schengen
• Travel medical insurance of at least €30,000 valid throughout Schengen for the trip, covering emergency medical care, hospitalisation and repatriation
• Accommodation, transport plans and evidence of funds for the visit and return; use the checklist for your Indian residence jurisdiction
• Mumbai’s tourist checklist also asks for six months of residence in its jurisdiction and accommodation with a deposit or cancellation charge for an individual visit

Step-by-Step Application Process

   Apply through Hungary when it is your sole or main destination by length or purpose; if no main destination can be identified, use the first Schengen entry country

   Check whether your residence falls under New Delhi or Mumbai, then use the mission’s VFS route to arrange submission

   Complete and sign the form, prepare the relevant checklist and supply biometrics when required; the consulate can request more documents or an interview

   Pay the applicable visa and service charges. The Hungarian mission decides the application; VFS does not decide or guarantee approval

Documents Required

• Valid passport and relevant passport/visa copies, signed application and a recent photo; Mumbai specifies one 35×45 mm colour photo on white
• Insurance, accommodation evidence, itinerary and return reservation, plus travel between Schengen states where applicable
• Three months of original bank statements; New Delhi specifies bank stamp and signature. Tax-history instructions conflict: Delhi and Mumbai tourist checklists ask for 3 years, while the harmonised India list linked by Mumbai says 2 assessment years. Confirm with your mission
• If employed: 3 months of payslips, employment contract and leave approval; self-employed, retired and student applicants use their status-specific evidence
• For minors, follow the checklist’s parental signatures, identity evidence, notarised consent or sole-custody evidence as applicable; Mumbai applicants also need jurisdiction-residence proof
