Key Requirements
- Passport issued within the past 10 years, valid at least 3 months after leaving Schengen, with at least 2 blank pages
- Travel medical insurance of at least €30,000 across Schengen, covering medical repatriation, urgent treatment, emergency hospital care and death for the intended stay
- Accommodation, travel plans and sufficient funds for the stay and return; use the India supporting-document list
- For a multiple-entry application, insurance must cover the first intended visit; insurance is also needed for subsequent visits
Step-by-Step Application Process

Apply to Czechia if it is your only destination or main destination by purpose or length of stay; for equal-purpose, equal-length visits, use the first Schengen country entered

Applicants legally residing in India normally book through a Czech VFS Global centre in India; the embassy has separate arrangements for certain special categories

Complete and sign the Schengen form, prepare the tourism and India supporting documents, and pay the applicable visa and service fees

Attend for fingerprints when required: under-12s are exempt; prints from a Schengen application within the previous 59 months can usually be reused, but may be collected again if uncertain

Await the decision and follow the collection instructions; extra examination can extend processing to 45 calendar days
Documents Required
- Qualifying passport, biodata and Indian passport last-page copies; previous Schengen entry/exit stamp copies if available
- Completed and signed application form and recent 35 × 45 mm photograph
- Schengen travel medical insurance meeting the coverage and duration requirements above
- Transport evidence, itinerary and cover letter with purpose, dates, companions and accommodation details
- Accommodation evidence in every Schengen country visited; host documentation for a private stay
- Original personal bank statements showing 3 months of transactions, stamped and signed by the bank; Indian ITR acknowledgements for 2 assessment years
- Employees: 3 months of payslips, employment contract and approved leave; self-employed applicants: registration/GST, business bank statement and verifiable tax-return proof
- Retirees: 3 months of pension statements and/or regular property/business income; students: enrolment certificate; sponsored travellers: applicable sponsorship evidence
- Minors: parent/guardian identification and notarised consent for travel alone or with one parent, or sole-custody evidence where applicable
Pro Tips
- For an adult stay of up to 30 days, Czech MFA states at least CZK 1,565 per day; longer stays use a different formula. Check the official financial-means page for your trip
- Check that your insurance plan is accepted for a Czech Schengen application; the embassy publishes an Indian insurer list and permits qualifying foreign-issued cover where claims are recoverable in Schengen
- Use the current India checklist for your employment, sponsorship or student situation; do not treat a bank balance alone as an approval guarantee
Important Notes
- • The 90 days in any 180-day period limit is shared across Schengen; also respect the validity, entries and shorter stay granted on your visa
- • A visa does not guarantee entry: carry accommodation, financial and return-travel evidence for border checks
- • Notify the Czech consulate if your accommodation, flights or itinerary change during processing or after issue; its guidance warns that unreported changes can lead to annulment or revocation
