• Passport issued within the past 10 years with two blank pages. Mumbai requires three months of validity after Schengen departure; New Delhi currently publishes six months. Confirm the checklist for your residence jurisdiction before applying.
• Travel medical insurance: at least €30,000 for the Schengen stay, including emergency treatment, hospital care and repatriation for medical reasons or death.
• Accommodation evidence, return reservations and proof of the purpose of your visit and intention to leave.
• For ordinary short-stay visitors in 2026, budget proof is €122.10 per person per day, with a minimum €1,098.90 per person; recheck for your travel year.

Step-by-Step Application Process

   Apply through Spain if it is your only or main destination by duration or purpose; if no main destination exists, use the first Schengen entry country.

   Use the Spanish mission responsible for your place of residence, complete and sign its application form, and book the linked BLS appointment.

   Submit the mission checklist and pay the applicable visa and service fees. Provide biometrics when required; under-12s are exempt from fingerprints, and fingerprints from the preceding 59 months may be reused unless retaking is needed.

   Allow the normal 15-calendar-day decision period, potentially 45 days for additional scrutiny, plus appointment waiting time; respond to requests for further evidence.

Documents Required

• Passport and copies of identity, previous visas and travel stamps in the current and last passport. Resolve the Mumbai three-month versus New Delhi six-month post-departure validity requirement with your mission.
• Signed Schengen form and recent photograph meeting the mission’s specifications.
• Insurance evidence for the required cover; Indian missions request the policy’s front page.
• Cover letter, return flight reservations, and accommodation or a Spanish police-issued invitation for a private host.
• Bank statements for three months, stamped and signed; applicable ITR-V/Form 16 for two years, recent salary slips where available, PAN copy and sponsor evidence if relevant.
• Residence-jurisdiction evidence and additional documents appropriate to your circumstances, including minors; use the current mission checklist.
