Key Requirements

• For a short-stay tourist visa: passport issued within 10 years, valid at least 3 months after your planned return, with 2 blank pages
• Travel medical insurance of at least €30,000 per person for the Schengen stay, including emergency treatment and medical repatriation; use the mission’s approved-insurer guidance
• Flight reservations naming the travellers, accommodation evidence and proof of finances appropriate to your employment or other status
• For self-funded visitors, Swiss border guidance specifies at least CHF100 per day; sufficient means for the return journey are also required. Student and sponsored visits have separate conditions

Step-by-Step Application Process

   Confirm Switzerland is the sole or main destination by length or purpose; if no main destination can be determined, apply through the country of first Schengen entry

   Complete and sign the official form; prepare the Swiss India tourist checklist and arrange submission through VFS

   Provide fingerprints and attend when required. Swiss guidance allows reuse within 59 months when a VIS-marked visa was granted, but poor-quality prints or an interview request require attendance

   Pay the applicable visa and service charges; contact VFS about application status and check the visa’s dates, entries and permitted stay if approved

Documents Required

• Passport, signed application and 1 recent passport photo meeting the mission’s specifications
• Insurance, flight reservations and accommodation evidence; include intra-Schengen travel evidence where applicable
• If employed: employer introduction/no-objection letter, 3 months of salary slips and salary-account statements, and ITR-V/acknowledgements for the last 2 assessment years
• If self-employed: business evidence, 3 months of personal statements and 2 assessment years of ITR-V/acknowledgements; retirees use 3 months of pension statements and applicable income evidence
• Follow the complete checklist for student, family and minor cases, including guardian signatures, parental identity evidence and notarised consent when applicable; the embassy may request more documents
