Requirement: Free Travel Authorization Certificate
A qualifying foreign document may be valid or expired within 10 years of arrival. Australian/New Zealand electronic visas must remain valid; Japanese/Korean visas require proof of prior entry; residence-card holders should confirm the requirement because official wording also refers to documents. Work permits and cancelled/void documents do not qualify. All other TAC conditions still apply.

- A qualifying US, UK or Schengen visa or residence document expired within 10 years of arrival may support TAC; all other eligibility conditions still apply.
- Print the approved certificate and carry the supporting document for inspection.
- The 10-year test runs to your Taiwan arrival date, not the day you submit the application. Cancelled or void documents do not qualify.
Important Notes
- • Cancelled, void, and cancelled-without-prejudice documents do not qualify
- • Prior blue-collar employment in Taiwan can disqualify an applicant
- • Each stay is limited to 14 days from the day after arrival; maximum six TAC entries per calendar year
- • No record of immigration or law violations in Taiwan
- • Submit the free TWAC within 7 days before arrival; NIA guidance differs about first TAC entry, so confirm the exception or submit the card
