Indian passport holders need a visa before entering Japan. Applications from residents of India are submitted through VFS; the eVisa route covers a single-entry short-term tourism stay of up to 90 days. From 1 July 2026, the visa fee for Indian nationals is INR 500 for a single or multiple visa, and the VFS service fee is charged separately. Processing times can vary significantly, so apply well in advance.

Transit visa exemptions:
Japan abolished the transit-visa category from 1 July 2026. An airside connection does not by itself permit entry through immigration.
