Oman Visa for Indians: Entry Rules
Complete visa requirements for Indian passport holders
An Indian passport alone does not qualify for Oman's 14-day exemption. You need a qualifying foreign visa or residence permit, plus every trip document. Otherwise arrange an eligible visa before travel; a licensed tourism-company sponsor may be required.
Guide updated: 27 September 2026
Special Condition
Hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, Canada, Australia, UK, a Schengen country, or Japan; GCC residents must meet the eligible-profession rule
Requirement: Conditional 14-day visa exemption
India is in the second exemption group. Carry a six-month-valid passport, return ticket, confirmed hotel, health insurance and sufficient funds. The exemption cannot be extended or converted to a residence visa.
Key Information
Key Requirements
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from entry
- Return ticket — the exemption rule does not say an onward ticket is sufficient
- Confirmed hotel reservation
- Health insurance for your visit; the cited exemption rule does not publish a minimum coverage amount
- Enough funds for the stay; the cited exemption rule does not publish a fixed minimum
- Valid visa or residence permit from the US, Canada, Australia, UK, a Schengen country, or Japan; or GCC residence in an eligible profession
Step-by-Step Application Process
- 1
Check the Foreign Ministry exemption conditions against your passport, supporting visa or residence permit and itinerary
- 2
If eligible, carry all exemption documents for entry checks
- 3
If ineligible, check your specific route with Royal Oman Police; an online portal does not mean every Indian traveller qualifies for an unsponsored eVisa
- 4
A licensed tourism company can sponsor a tourist visa for any nationality; arrange the appropriate approval before travel
Documents Required
- Passport with at least 6 months remaining at entry
- Return ticket
- Confirmed hotel reservation
- Health insurance
- Evidence of sufficient funds
- Qualifying visa or residence permit; GCC residents should also carry evidence of the eligible profession
- Approved visa and the category-specific documents if not using the exemption
Pro Tips
- Check supporting-document expiry before booking
- Prepare the return ticket, hotel confirmation, health insurance and funds evidence together
- If your profession or family eligibility is unclear, contact ROP before travelling: +968 22848200
Important Notes
- • An Indian passport alone does not qualify for the 14-day exemption
- • The exemption cannot be extended or converted to a residence visa
- • The Foreign Ministry also allows the eligible visitor's spouse and children to benefit, even with different nationalities; confirm the family documents with ROP
- • A separate August 2026 announcement creates a free 14-day tourist visa that may be replaced by another tourist category. It does not name eligible countries or confirm that exemption entrants qualify; ask ROP before relying on it
- • Sponsored tourist visas are a separate route, with their own duration and extension rules
