Indian passport holders normally need to follow Yerevan's visa rules. A separate conditional border visa or temporary visa exemption may apply if you hold an eligible foreign visa or qualifying residence permit; check the exact conditions below before travel.

Requirement: Conditional border visa or temporary visa exemption
A valid visa or residence permit from an EU/Schengen state, the US, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, UK, Canada, Russia or Japan permits a border-visa application; GCC states qualify through residence permits only (physical card or sticker). Separately, US/EU/Schengen/GCC residence permits with six months remaining on entry can support the 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027 visa exemption. UK, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Korean or Japanese residence alone is not on that temporary exemption list.

- Medical travel insurance for an eVisa application; the embassy does not publish a minimum insured amount on this page
- For eVisa: either an eligible valid foreign visa/residence permit, or a return flight reservation, an Armenian invitation and evidence of funds
- For the temporary residence exemption: a qualifying residence permit valid at least six months from entry, presented as a physical card or passport sticker with the required Latin-script details and Gregorian dates
Step-by-Step Application Process

Check which route applies using the embassy's India-specific guidance; an ordinary Indian passport alone does not receive the 180-day exemption

For eVisa, use evisa.mfa.am and supply the mandatory insurance and the supporting documents for your route; verify the stay and fee offered before payment

Without an eligible foreign visa/residence permit, arrange the Armenian invitation, return reservation and funds evidence before applying

Carry your approval and supporting documents. For a border-visa application or temporary residence exemption, carry the qualifying original document

- Otherwise: return reservation, Armenian invitation and funds evidence such as three months of bank statements, employment/salary evidence or another accepted proof
- For a residence-based exemption: qualifying physical residence card or passport sticker with six months remaining validity and required identity/date details

Important Notes
- • The temporary residence exemption runs from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027 and permits up to 180 days within a one-year period; it is not a general Indian visa waiver
- • Its eligible issuers are the US, EU/Schengen states, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman. Visitor visas do not substitute for residence permits for this exemption
- • The residence document needs its title, your given name, surname, nationality, birth date and validity period in Latin script, with dates in the Gregorian calendar
- • The embassy allows a one-way reservation for study, work or another justified case; ordinary tourist applications using the invitation route need a return reservation
- • The border-visa route and temporary visa-free route have different eligible issuers and document conditions. Confirm admission and the permitted departure date with immigration
